------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step-by-Step Instructions------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, to unlock the ability to use the Factory, you must complete the Starship Factory on Zerard, and beat the boss (Jupis). The Factory is accessible through the main menu. You use a remote uplink to access it, so you do not need to keep going back to Zerard whenever you want to use it. STEP ONE -------- Find an NPC standing around (usually near shops, but not always) with an orange orb beside their name. When you talk to them, they will tell you about an idea they have for a certain type of item or weapon. They will also give you a list of raw materials needed to make it. This list is nearly always incomplete, but more on that later. After talking to them, you will automatically obtain blueprints to manufacture that item. STEP TWO -------- Open the main menu, and select Factory. You will come to the factory, with a menu on the left side of the screen. Select "Blueprints", and pick which item you wish to manufacture. As mentioned before, most of the time it will be incomplete, as one or more of the materials listed will be a vague clue, and a question mark. This does not matter, you can still make the item. STEP THREE ---------- A template will be automatically laid out on the factory floor. Now, in the Factory menu, select "Set Materials". Items you can use as raw materials are divided into 5 catagories, Metal, Mecha, Circuit, Gem, and Alchemy. Go through each catagory, and find the materials listed at the top of the window. Select them in the right amount, and place them onto a Source Table, which will be at the top of the screen. If a material is listed as #1, make sure it is on the source table furthest to the left, and so on. If one of the materials is listed as a question mark, you can use the clue the NPC gave you to guess what goes there. The clue is repeated on the blueprint, but it is not repeated in the Materials window. STEP FOUR --------- Here's the sneaky part. It looks like it's ready to run, but every material must be processed before it can be combined to for a new item. The way in which materials must be processed depends on the class. There are certain processing machines that must be placed so that the raw material passes through it: Metal - Smelter, Form Presser, and Fan pointed at the tube after Form Pressing Mecha - Disassembler Circuit - Washer Gem - Grinder Alchemy - Athanor To place them, select "Place" in the Factory menu. Move the tubes so that each machine becomes a part of the manufacturing line BEFORE the assembler. STEP FIVE --------- You must also make sure each processed material reaches the assembler at the same time. Do this by adding or removing tubes so that a material that doesn't take long to process has to follow a longer route. Every processing machine take a certain amount of time to do its function, so you must add that time to the length of tubes to find the total time. You can get more tube pieces from the "Place" menu. STEP SIX -------- Here is the fun part. On the Factory menu, go back to "Place", and select the power cord. Every source table, processing machine, assembler, and the final table must be connected to a power supply. Do this by connecting the outlets against the wall to those machines that require power. The tubes do not require to be directly connected. It's like making roads in SimCity. Make sure your cord ends pointing directly at the power socket on the machine, not pointing away. STEP SEVEN ---------- Select "Run" from the Factory menu, and watch your new item being made!
